DG ANNOUNCES THE PROVINCIAL ANTICORRUPTION FORUM

The Eastern Cape Provincial Administration has taken as step closer to shutting off the door on perpetrators of corruption and fraud with 
the setting up of an inter-sectoral anti-corruption forum in Bisho.

The Provinces Director General, Dr Mvuyo Tom held a two-hour meeting with members of the forum to finalise its terms of reference and its 
programme of action as outlined in the resolutions of the Anti-corruption Summit held towards the end of 1999.

Addressing a media briefing after the meeting, Dr Tom said the forum would help to coordinate activities of all investigating and law 
enforcement agencies to avoid duplication of activities and subsequently improve the impact of governments efforts. He said the forum 
would help to build a database of corruption cases as well as the person/s investigating the matter to ensure that resources were utilised 
efficiently.

He further said campaigns against corruption would be held and the forum will ensure their success. One of the objectives of anti-
corruption campaign is to ensure that people with information have access to and use of public systems of dealing with illegal operations 
with ease. He concluded by ensuring the public that the forum led by him would do every thing possible to ensure that cases of corruption 
are expeditious effectively dealt with.

Members of the Forum include: Dr Mvuyo Tom, Director General of the EC; Mr. Mzwandile Msoki  Public Service Commissioner of the Eastern 
Cape; Mrs Sarah Hugo  representative of the Non - Governmental Organisation Coalition, Mr. Les Brook, Border Kei Chamber of Business, Mr. 
Cyril Langbooi  Labour, Mr Wyne Malgas and Superintendent Witbooi of Investigation Agencies and Rev Lulama Ntshingwa  Eastern Cape 
Council of Churches. Unfortunately Rev Ntshingwa and Mr Langbooi could not attend the introductory session.
